In the night, alone, one kitten sat
Hiding under a stone fountain, frightened,
Until a can of tuna was put outside
And the kitten walked forward,
Hungry and cold, and licked up the tuna,
Completely unaware she had strolled right into a trap.
Humans took the kitten inside,
While the kitten hissed in fright,
But the kitten did not know
That she would appreciate what the humans did that night.
The kitten had a collar,
But the collar had no phone number or name.
The humans put up 'cat found' posters
But no one claimed the cat the same.
After about a week, the humans who had found her claimed her as their own
They named the kitten 'Minnie'
And now she roams their home.
She adjusted to be a house cat,
But her personality was kept the same
She had been afraid and fierce
And 'wild' was in her name,
Minnie gained her first curse;
That she would never be tame.
A few years later, the family moved
Into an entirely different place
Across several time zones
And opposite side of the United States.
But Minnie still was on previous time
And so her second curse she gained;
She would wake up at 5:00 am thinking it was morning
To her, the time was the same.
Her third curse, no one knows how she acquired,
It is active when she's sleepy, lonely or tired.
Maybe she was a wolf in some past life,
Or maybe it was from a previous strife.
But at random times she'll turn to the ceiling and yowl
Singing the songs of her people, her humans call it now.
The humans never know why she does it, but still you see,
Three curses of Minnie, the wild and free.
